Orthopedic surgeon arrested in $10 million telehealth fraud case

According to a press release , the surgeon, 56-year-old Dr. Elemer Raffai, is accused of allegedly submitting false claims to Medicare in exchange for kickbacks from telemedicine companies. According to the indictment, which was unsealed this week, Raffai was paid by telemedicine companies for each consultation with a beneficiary.

The CONNECT for Health Act is reintroduced, again

A bipartisan group of legislators has reintroduced the Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies for Health Act – first introduced in 2016 – to expand opportunities and coverage for telehealth through Medicare.
