I had a short but very satisfying interaction with a developer at HIMSS 2018. They had implemented a pilot project using FHIR. Their use-case was to instrument the DoD systems with a FHIR Server API, and similarly instrument a VA Vista system with a FHIR Client. What he actually did was stand up a new instance of Vista.

I’m very honoured to make a guest today from Mike Morris, who I met at the HL7 FHIR Applications Round Table in Washington DC a couple of weeks ago. Mike is a cancer patient who is using FHIR improve his own treatment. My white blood cell count was so low in January 2018, I had to go to the ER, chemo destroyed my blood counts.
