Katharine Liang, a psychiatry resident physician who works rotations for Seattle-area hospitals, said requests for UW Medicine staffers to discharge patients in a timely fashion are not uncommon as administrators seek extra beds. The nurse did not want to be named for fear of reprisal by Swedish. The nurse is now on medical leave.
