Regulations now require primary care doctors be notified if their patients have an ED visit or are admitted to a hospital. It’s amazing to think that PCPs are being notified about their patients so that they can ensure quality continuity of care. It’s basically HIPAA secure email for doctors.

What do you think is the right course of action? The nurse last night was worried about metric X and had proactively given her medication Y before she has to {do PT, insert a line, etc.}. On occasion, it’s possible to request a meeting with the care team. What are the important decisions the team or we will likely face?
