The second five are finalists in the AARP Innovation Labs Pitch Competition for companies focused on providing peace of mind to family caregivers through the use of VR, AI and other disruptive technologies. The winning team will go on to the AARP Innovation Pitch Event in Washington, DC, in October of 2018.

In early 2019, AARP Research published a technology survey taken in 2018 which showed ownership of smartphones growing to 65% of the 65+. Competitions among innovators were held and won. ElliQ from Intuition Robotics won Best of Innovation at CES 2018. 2018 was a banner year for competitions in the age-related categories.
