The Treasury Department has expanded for taxpayers who received incorrect 1095-A from the government after purchasing Affordable Care Act health insurance through a state online marketplace. The agency gave these taxpayers the same as previously provided to those who bought through the federal marketplace: they will not have to refund any overpayment they received after filing their federal taxes using the incorrect information on the form, nor will they have to file an amended return.

The Affordable Care Act has substantially increased the percentage of Latinos who have healthcare coverage, although more than half of Latinos surveyed said they had heard little or nothing about the law. The study, conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at the University New Mexico, found that only 17% of Latinos now lack health insurance, compared to 28% those surveyed in 2013.

Final regulations on employer-provided wraparound coverage under the Affordable Care Act were issued by the IRS and Departments of Health and Human Services and Labor. Wraparound coverage is employer-sponsored coverage that may be offered to employees for whom the employer’s primary coverage is unaffordable and who obtain individual coverage through the federal or state marketplaces.

RAND Corp. analysts who looked at the likely effects of eliminating the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate determined that the likely result would be an increase in premiums and a reduction in enrollments by individuals. Using a sophisticated model based on economic theory, the researchers looked at the likely effects eliminating the law’s and tax credits and tinkering with other provisions of the law, to see how they would affect the propensity of young adults to buy insurance coverage.
