I got a question of what should be done with the Certificate CN (common name) value. Specifically should a system make sure that the TCP/IP Connection aligns with the CN hostname value? The short answer is: ignore the Certificate CN; as the TLS authentication mechanism has already done cryptographically secure authentication. Adding any use of DNS to this will only result in false-negatives, meaning it will never add value but will occasionally cause you to reset a perfectly good connection.

Bigfoot is taking a big step towards getting its artificial pancreas to market, announcing that it has gained approval to enroll up to 50 participants in a trial of its pump system. Bigfoot Biomedical has obtained the FDA’s blessing to conduct a clinically-supervised test of an algorithm designed to translate readings from a Dexcom CGM into insulin-delivery instructions for a pump.

This past month, Tandem announced that their t:slim line of insulin pumps received FDA approval for children as young as 6 years old; previously, children 12 years old and older were approved to use the pump. This approval covers the t:slim, t:flex, and t:slim G4 pumps. This is good news for parents who are looking at options for pump therapy for little ones.

HHS has produced an 8 page fact-sheet on Ransomeware and HIPAA that is fantastic. It is so good that I have very little to say as any emphasis I would add is already in the 8 pages. Just 8 pages, packed with very readable, reasonable, reasoned, and backed by long standing Security and Privacy HIPAA Regulation. There is no need for new regulation, as it is indeed all covered.
