Study Says Families Struggle to Pay Deductibles

Many families – especially those with low to moderate incomes – don’t have sufficient savings to cover a mid- or larger deductible in a private plan, according to an analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation. The study found that less than two-thirds (63%) non-elderly households with incomes above the federal poverty level have sufficient liquid financial assets to cover a mid-range annual deductible $1,200 for an or $2,400 for a family.
