Today there is a rising number of children in the US affected by asthma and diabetes. School nurses are treating a wider range of issues than ever before. Even though this increase is known, only 40% of elementary schools in the US have a full time nurse on staff. The use of telemedicine can expand the reach of school nurses and their ability to care for a wider range of illnesses.

Building on their long line of increasingly amped-up step counters, Fitbit announced the release of its latest product, the Ionic. Coming in at $300, the Fitbit Ionic brings all the usual suspects when it comes to smart watch features: 4 days of battery life, GPS, music, mobile payment, and a small handful of ‘apps.’ The Ionic releases with a dormant sPO2 meter which may give the watch new features in the future such as ability to measure apnea.

The concept of Profiling in IHE has been around for just about 20 years. A 2016 lawsuit alleging that a child with Type 1 diabetes was one of two children discriminated against by a North Carolina private school has expanded to include the testimony of another child with Type 1 who was allegedly barred from attending the school. sponsor. A May 2017 court ruling allowed the lawsuit to expand beyond the complaints of the initial plaintiffs and include other families who may have faced discrimination at the hands of the school.
