“Even just an hour into the programme it was already worth the trip”

Healthcare Innovation Consortium ran its first International Accelerator Programme (IAP) boot camp on the 20th and 21st of June 2023 at the Xerox Innovation Centre in London.

The two-day bootcamp welcomed the first cohort of 5 international companies, from India to Germany, the IAP companies travelled across the globe to learn and knowledge share from HICs bank of industry experts, plus network and pitch their solutions to NHS customers to deploy their technology to UK healthcare centres and sites.

Andreas Landsverk, Director of Partnerships at Ledidi said “Such a pleasure representing Ledidi at this productive accelerator boot camp in London with Healthcare Innovation Consortium this week! Even just an hour into the programme it was already worth the trip.”

As well as BeFC extending their thanks to HIC for “building the bridge between startups, disruptive digital solutions and hospital’s systems.”

To provide you with a snapshot of day one, the boot camp kicked off with keynote speaker Paul Johnson from Radar Healthcare, sharing his experiences and success stories in penetrating the UK NHS market, highlighting strategies for success and common pitfalls.

Jamie Foster from Hill Dickinson Health discussed:

  • Maximising the chances of selling products to the NHS
  • Selling data driven technologies: applying the GDPR in the health sector
  • Selling data driven technologies to the NHS: navigating NHS information governance requirements

Day one concluded with a panel discussion and a review of the NHS pitch deck. Following that, the IAP companies and HIC team gathered for a networking dinner to unwind and connect with each other.

The vibrancy and enthusiasm from everyone in the room on day one was evident. Jamie Foster wrote that evening “It was a pleasure spending the day yesterday with a group of international companies looking for the NHS to adopt their technologies. Shows the immediate opportunity technology can offer to speed up and improve patient experience. Looking forward to day 2! This buzz propelled us into day two.

On the second day, representatives from various NHS organisations seeking innovative solutions to enhance their digital maturity were present. To start the day, Darren Cassidy, EMEA VP for Services at Xerox, emphasised the significance of international innovation within the UK health ecosystem. Following that, the NHS organisations introduced themselves, outlining the challenges they face and the specific solutions they are seeking.

The IAP companies had the opportunity to pitch their solutions to the NHS customers, aiming to identify potential matches between their technologies and the needs of the NHS organisations.

We extend our appreciation to all the speakers, organisations, and companies that contributed to the success of the IAP NHS Bootcamp!

Now, the real journey begins as we collaborate to implement these incredible technologies nationwide.
