VHA Deploys Wolters Kluwer Solution to Harmonize Veterans’ Healthcare Nationwide

Feb. 11, 2019

Wolters Kluwer, Health, a provider of clinical technology and evidence-based solutions, has announced that the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), a part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), has added a new clinical decision support tool as part of its health IT solution set.

The VHA is the largest healthcare system in the United States with more than 306,000 full-time clinicians and support staff who care for nine million veterans each year at 172 medical centers and more than one thousand outpatient clinics. With the expansion of the relationship into a national agreement, all VHA clinicians can now use the UpToDate Advanced tool from Wolters Kluwer.

According to officials, with interactive UpToDate Pathways decision making algorithms, “clinicians can arrive at the best decisions for their patients in view of contemporary medical knowledge, clinical experience and patient-specific factors. UpToDate Pathways will aid the VHA to target over 60 common medical conditions associated with unwanted clinical variability.”

HIMSS19 attendees can visit the Wolters Kluwer booth (#1759) to learn about its health solutions, while a demonstration of UpToDate Advanced embedded in an EHR environment can be seen at the Department of Veterans Affairs kiosk at the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase (booth #9100).
