Healthcare data firm Innovaccer has signed a new agreement with Clinical Pathology Laboratories (part of Sonic Healthcare USA) that will allow physicians to view alerts on and place pending lab orders directly through their EHR. The arrangement will use Innovaccer’s InNote product for point-of-care physician engagement, and be deployed among Sonic Healthcare partner clinics within the Southeast and Southwest US.

“For us, ensuring healthy patients is the biggest priority. Any gap in information is, therefore, a roadblock for us in our mission of providing a quality care experience at our partner sites,” Tony Jones, SVP of business development and strategic operations at Sonic Healthcare USA, said in a statement. “With Innovaccer’s point-of-care physician engagement solution, InNote, we are sure to further streamline our processes and empower physicians with the most accurate and timely insights into pending lab tests, while also providing suggestions around the future course of action.”

Alongside news of a strategic investment Halma plc, biometric sensor maker Valencell and SunTech Medical (a Halma portfolio company) have pulled back the curtain on a new partnership focused on developing new blood pressure measurement products. The multi-year effort will be marrying SunTech’s cuff-based blood pressure tech and its transport motion tolerance capabilities with Valencell’s optical photoplethysmography technology for continuous blood pressure estimation.

“SunTech Medical is a universally respected industry leader in clinical-grade BP solutions, and their expertise in this area has been clear from the very beginning of our work together,” Dr. Steven LeBeouf, president and cofounder of Valencell, said in a statement. “We are extremely happy to be working with SunTech to bring new technologies and capabilities to market together for the clinical sector and for patients around the world. Our two companies have identified critical medical use cases that can only be effectively addressed by combining Valencell’s deep-PPG technology with SunTech’s motion-tolerant blood pressure technology. ”

Last week Ride Health inked a deal with Uber Health to provide a non-emergency medical transport. As part of the deal, patients using Ride Health’s web-based platform, which coordinates medical transportation, will have Uber Health as a new option.

"We are proud to team up with Uber Health, which is respected across the healthcare industry not only for its network strength but also for its success in promoting rider safety, its HIPAA controls, and for preventing fraud," Imran Cronk, CEO and founder of Ride Health, said in a statement. "Our health system and health plan customers appreciate the added flexibility that Uber Health brings to our network via its WAV and UberAssist products, which helps provide assistance to seniors and people with disabilities."

Also in non-emergency transport news, Roundtrip made a deal with health data integration platform Redox. As part of the deal Roundtrip will be offering a complete view of a patient’s transport journey. Redox can then integrate that data into a patient's EHR.

“Improving patient outcomes with better transportation goes far beyond optimizing how singular appointments are scheduled and fulfilled,” Mark Switaj, CEO of Roundtrip, said in a statement. “It is about understanding a patient’s entire experience across the care continuum and identifying opportunities for optimization when they exist. With Redox, we can ensure access to information across myriad IT systems used to deliver and document care to get a comprehensive view of a patient and to ensure their high-quality healthcare journey.”

Last week saw news of a new integration initiative from Apple that has several fitness and workout chains doling out monetary rewards to members who have connected their Apple Watches or other Apple-branded services to their digital ecosystem. Crunch Fitness, Orangetheory, YMCA and Basecamp are all among the Apple Watch Connected program’s first major partners, each of which have already kicked off the new member features in certain locations.

“An overwhelming majority of our members choose iOS as their mobile platform of choice and we’re seeing widespread adoption of Apple Watch by members in our club,” Chad Waetzig, EVP of marketing and branding at Crunch, said in a statement. “With the convenience and great fitness and activity tracking features of Apple Watch, we feel we’re able to bring our members next level integration by building an entire experience around this device. And we’re fully intending to expand the Apple Watch Connected program across more Crunch Signature and Crunch Fitness gyms in 2020 and beyond.”
