Amazon One Medical
A major shake-up is taking place at Amazon-owned primary care provider One Medical. After more than six years as CEO at One Medical, Amir Dan Rubin is stepping down later this year. He will help current COO Trent Green transition to the CEO role.
Amazon announced the $3.9 billion acquisition in July 2022 and narrowly avoided the Federal Trade Commission blocking the deal.
Before his time at One Medical, Rubin served as executive vice president and divisional CEO within Optum for UnitedHealth Group. He was also the president and CEO of Stanford Health Care and chief operating officer for UCLA Health and Stony Brook University Medical Center.
Green was in various senior leadership positions with Legacy Health before joining One Medical, including senior vice president and COO.
TimeDoc Health
Virtual care management provider TimeDoc Health has enlisted Brian Esterly to be the company’s newest CEO.
Leadership at Aldrich Capital Partners, TimeDoc Health’s lead investor, supported Esterly by emphasizing his experience working with stakeholders in the healthcare industry, leveraging technology to reach vulnerable populations and his understanding of provider organizations, according to a press release.
Esterly formerly served as Centria Healthcare’s chief growth and strategy officer, where he was responsible for new client sales and managing client relationships. He also worked as COO for Solera Health, a preventive care benefits manager, and Aspire Health, an in-home palliative care services provider.
Biofourmis
Biofourmis, a global technology company that enables care delivery for monitoring patients at home, has announced that Kuldeep Singh Rajput has stepped down as CEO.
“He remains committed to providing support and advice to the company going forward,” Biofourmis said in a statement to Fierce Healthcare. “We thank Kuldeep for his vision and service to Biofourmis and wish him success in his future endeavors, and we are conducting a search for a new chief executive.”
The search team will include Chief Medical Officer Maulik Majmudar, CFO Renika Seghal, CTO Milan Shah, General Counsel Daniel Song and COO Jaydev Thakkar.
The organization also named Ben Wanamaker, previously serving as Humana's vice president of enterprise strategy, to the Biofourmis board of directors. Wanamaker will have oversight of the office.
Rajput founded Biofourmis in 2016. He currently serves on the board of Neuroglee Therapeutics and is a mentor for VC seed fund 500 Startups. He is also an adviser for HealthXL as well as an executive council member for Forbes Technology Council.
Advocate Health
Anthony DeFurio has resigned as executive vice president and CFO for Advocate Health, according to a voluntary disclosure notice from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority. He will continue serving in a short-term advisory role while Bradley Clark will assume the position on an interim basis.
Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health formally combined to create Advocate Health in December. He was named to the executive team less than a week after the merger was completed.
Prior to joining Atrium Health in 2017, DeFurio held senior finance roles with the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, the University of Colorado Hospital Authority, Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals and Catholic Health Initiatives.

> Penn Medicine, based in Philadelphia, has named Kevin Kline as the inaugural medical doctor of its program for LGBTQ+ health.
> Phoenix Children’s, a pediatric healthcare system, has promoted Jared Muenzer, M.D., to chief physician officer. He will continue serving in his current role as COO.
> Estes Park Health in Colorado announced that CIO Gary Hall is planning to retire.
> Honor Technology, a home care network for older adults with an advanced care platform technology, has named four members to its senior leadership team: Linn Free as senior vice president of operations, Stefan Haney as senior vice president of growth technology, Mark Privett as vice president of design and Tejas Saraiya as vice president of platform sales.
> Mount Sinai South Nassau, a hospital in Long Island under the Mount Sinai Health System umbrella, has given Senior Vice President and CFO John Pohlman the additional title of COO. Senior Vice President for Administration Ken Long will add chief clinical integration officer to his set of responsibilities.
> Duke Health has named Michael Pencina as its first chief data scientist.
> Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan, Ohio, has handpicked Randy Montgomery as the hospital’s newest CFO.
> NTT Data, a digital business and IT organization, announced Craig Hovda will lead the Health Plan & Life Sciences business as president, succeeding Tanvir Khan who served in the position on an interim basis.
> Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville has announced Vikram Reddy, M.D., as chief medical officer, Stuart Downs as chief nursing executive, John Neidenbach as administrator for Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow and Darlene Sweet as vice president for the Georgia Heart Institute.
> Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen has selected Kari McCord as chief nursing officer.
> Resilience Lab, a mental health provider enabling clinical collaboration, has named James Banares as vice president of people, a continuation of the company hiring clinicians across the Northeast.
> Anderson Healthcare System, based in Maryland, has tapped Patrick Garvey as its new CFO.
> Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York, has decided on Dori Marshall, M.D., as its next chief medical officer.
> Elicio Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a pipeline for novel immunotherapies for cancer treatment, has appointed Megan Filoon as general counsel and Thian Kheoh, M.D., as senior vice president of biometrics.
> Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Missouri, has named Joanie White-Wagoner as the health system’s newest CEO, succeeding interim CEO Douglas Johnson.
> PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington, has tapped Nandita Gupta, M.D., as chief medical officer.
