Solera Health, a digital platform that offers a marketplace for benefits and chronic-disease-management programs, is expanding its reach into the digestive health space. The Phoenix, Arizona-based company announced that it will offer gastrointestinal-focused digital health products from Oshi Health and Vivante Health.

Oshi offers virtual-first GI care for patients with a variety of conditions. The service includes health coaching, nutrition and mental health support, personalized-care plans and lab-tracking tools, as well as services to track symptoms and contact care teams, according to the company's webpage.

Vivante Health's platform offers round-the-clock support from nurses, registered dietitians and health coaches. It also includes a service that checks a member's gut chemistry. The platform also provides users with nutritional education, coaching, symptom-monitoring and personalized reports.

WHY IT MATTERS

These new offerings expand Solera's scope into the GI space. Digestive disorders are common in the U.S. In fact, 60 million to 70 million people in the U.S. are affected by digestive disease, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases

"Digestive health diseases affect nearly one in five Americans and cost more than $140 billion per year in direct and indirect costs to employers and health plans," Mary Langowski, CEO of Solera Health, said in a statement. "These conditions are often hard to diagnose and treat, but with our curated network of world-class digital solutions in Oshi and Vivante, we are dramatically simplifying access for member populations by speeding up time-to-diagnosis and driving improved outcomes. More than just building this partner network, we also help drive member enrollment and engagement to maximize cost savings and deliver an all-encompassing solution."

THE LARGER TREND

Solera Health's offerings include a number of chronic and lifestyle conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, weight management, tobacco cessation, stress and poor sleep. In 2019, the company raked in $42 million in Series C funding, bringing its total raise to $72 million.

This isn't the first partnership for Oshi. Earlier this month, the company announced that it is teaming up with Firefly Health to offer digestive care to the former's members. In October 2021, Oshi scored $23 million in Series A funding

Vivante Health has also been involved in a number of deals in the past. For example, in 2020, the company inked a deal with consumer-health company Welltok (now part of Virgin Pulse) to offer its gut program to Welltok members. Earlier this month, Vivante Health announced a $16 million Series A funding round led by 7wireVentures
