Wellbeing tech startup Valeo Wellbeing has raised $3 million (€2.5 million) in seed funding to develop its personalised health tracking and guided wellbeing app.

The funding was led by Global Founders Capital, Global Ventures, Nuwa Capital, and FJ Labs.

WHY IT MATTERS

Valeo addresses users who are not sick but are not feeling their best, a gap in the regional market that Valeo founders wanted to close.

The startup has launched a health tracking and guided wellbeing app that allows users to schedule at-home wellbeing tests and receive actionable advice based on their results.

The app offers a suite of certified wellbeing coaches who are trained and certified in behavioural health and nutrition, helping users better understand their wellbeing data.

Valeo currently has two tests available on the app; the baseline test and the advanced test. The tests include an at-home collection of samples for the test and an analysis of results that comes with guidance from a wellbeing coach.

The users can then engage with a wellbeing coach for a three-month subscription fee of AED 995, enabling access to personalised lifestyle, food, and movement guidance.

THE LARGER CONTEXT

Valeo CEO and co-founder, Sundeep Sahni previously co-founded Southeast Asia's e-commerce platform Lazada and mobile wallet HelloPay, which was acquired by Alibaba for $3 billion.

Meanwhile, Roche Diagnostics India has introduced a mobile app that supports the emotional wellbeing of healthcare professionals mid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

ON THE RECORD

Nadine Karadag, co-founder and COO of Valeo, said: “Maintaining your wellbeing in the fast, modern world can be time and money consuming. You can find yourself paying a lot of money chasing health fads, and yet the right personalised advice at the right time remains difficult to find. Where do you go when you are not sick but you are not feeling your best? Valeo closes this gap in the market by providing a solution that is convenient, impactful, and reasonably priced. We want users to start their journey towards feeling their best using the Valeo app from the comfort of their homes.”
