New York-based startup Nomad Health, a company that makes an online platform for healthcare job-seekers and employers, has appointed Liming Zhao as its first chief technology officer. Previously holding similar posts at Frontier Signal (which he cofounded) and Compass, Zhao will be heading up the employment marketplace’s engineering, data science, IT and security efforts, and will also be helping support the company’s expansion into new focus areas.

“As CTO, Liming will help us craft and implement Nomad's technical strategy, lead us to explore new technologies and opportunities, and head the team behind the Nomad platform,” Dr. Alexi Nazem, Nomad cofounder and CEO, said in a statement. “Liming has an outstanding record of leading digital transformations. We look forward to working with him to further establish Nomad as the favorite destination for clinicians to discover rewarding opportunities to serve patients."

Biofourmis, the maker of an AI-enabled patient monitoring and decision support platform, has announced the appointment of Jaydev Thakkar as COO and Milan Shah as CTO. Thakkar comes from Amgen, where he served as the director of digital health and innovation for the pharma company. Shah, meanwhile, was most recently the cofounder and CTO of Uptycs Inc., a cybersecurity analytics platform.

“It is an honor to have such experts in their fields transition from prominent leadership positions to join our rapidly growing company,” Kuldeep Singh Rajput, founder and CEO of Biofourmis, said in a statement. “Jaydev has invaluable pharma and clinical trial leadership experience, including deep experience in digital therapeutics. Milan’s background in building technology startups and scaling them is also vital to our company, as we have many new products in our Biovitals pipeline that we are bringing to market. Adding such highly qualified healthcare and technology leaders to Biofourmis’ executive team will help us accelerate our controlled growth trajectory, while maintaining the highest levels of quality and compliance required in our industry.”

Naturally Slim, a digital weight management tool that focuses on metabolic health, has tapped Emily Buxton Taylor as the company’s next CFO. Taylor is coming from her old position at Paradigm Tax, where she also served as CFO. She has also worked for National HME, Northstar Anesthesia and Orthofix Medical.

“I believe there is great potential for women to become larger players in the digital health space," Taylor said in a statement. "While the digital health and financial industries have historically been viewed as male dominant, I have found my unique point-of-view and talents as a female in this industry have allowed me to flourish. As a result, Naturally Slim was the ideal company for me. I’m excited to be a part of the team and I look forward to contributing to its overall success."

Glenn Omanio, formerly the director of marketing for digital therapeutics at Sandoz, has left the company for a new position as director of reimbursement, access and value for gastroenterology at fellow pharmaceutical company Takeda. Omanio’s departure comes in the wake of Sandoz’s breakup with Pear Therapeutics, and could likely be a symptom of the company’s pivot away from commercializing digital therapeutics.

Patient portal Zesty recently named Rob Shaw as an advisor. Prior to this role Shaw served as the deputy CEO of NHS digital. As part of Shaw’s advisory position, he will be guiding the direction of Zesty's product portfolio and helping its products get ready for hospital implementation.

“I’m delighted to join Zesty. They are a fast growing digital health company delivering real benefits to NHS Trusts with a reputation for product excellence and strong technical delivery,” Shaw said in a statement. “Linking patients digitally with their hospital is one of the ways to reduce the cost of delivering care and really improve the patient experience, which is something I am very passionate about."
