Gozio Health, maker of a mobile wayfinding and patient engagement platform for healthcare systems, has signed onto a strategic alliance with AT&T that will scale its service to more hospitals nationwide.

To help patients navigate large or complex medical campuses, Gozio deploys an automated robot to traverse the halls and begin constructing a digital map of the facility. From there, the company programs an interactive map that, according to their website, can track a patient’s mobile device with an indoor accuracy of up to four feet.

The map can be tailored to match the style of the hospital’s other digital tools and, alongside step-by-step navigation to specific departments, includes a number of patient-friendly features such as emergency department wait times, appointment scheduling, physician directories, Epic MyChart EHR integration and virtual visits.

WHY IT MATTERS

With individuals taking on more financial responsibility for their care, the patient experience has become a renewed focus for hospitals looking to earn the trust and loyalty of the consumer. Paired with the clout of AT&T, Gozio’s technology will have a greater opportunity to help reduce the confusion of patients’ hospital visits.

“Mobile wayfinding is no longer a nice-to-have service offered exclusively by the most forward-looking hospital systems, but essential to a patient-centric approach to healthcare,” Joshua Titus, CEO and founder of Gozio Health, said in a statement. “Gozio’s collaboration with AT&T enhances our mission to improve patients’ access to care and give health systems access to the boundless patient engagement opportunities available with a customizable mobile platform.”

WHAT’S THE TREND

Gozio has been chugging along since its 2015 seed funding round with a handful of partnerships and feature updates. But it also isn’t alone in this market — Connexient, for instance, has also worked with some providers to build patient-facing wayfinding apps.

ON THE RECORD

“Today, the solutions AT&T offers go beyond traditional services to boost patient satisfaction and support optimal patient outcomes,” Rod Cruz, general manager of healthcare industry solutions at AT&T, said in a statement. “Together with Gozio, we can help healthcare customers improve patient outcomes by engaging our collective capabilities in connectivity and data analytics.”
