Seattle-based patient engagement and clinical education provider MedBridge has received a strategic investment from private equity firm LLR Partners.

The two companies did not disclose details on the sum of the investment, but noted that the funding will be used to support the growth of MedBridge in existing markets and its expansion into new areas of healthcare.

“By providing healthcare professionals with access to high-quality training and a powerful patient engagement platform, we aim to drive better outcomes for healthcare organizations and enhance the lives of their patients,” Justin Kowalchuk, MedBridge founder and CEO, said in a statement. “LLR has significant experience in continuing education, particularly within healthcare and nursing. We are excited to leverage their industry knowledge and network as we continue to grow MedBridge.”

MedBridge looks to improve clinical, patient, and financial outcomes with its collection of educational offerings for clinicians and patients. The company’s platform can assist during clinician onboarding, training, and career development, all of which a representative of the company said can improve an organization’s consistency of care, staff engagement, and employee retention.

On on the patient side, engagement offerings are designed to improve patient adherence, self-investment in rehabilitation, and overall patient satisfaction, the representative said. Further, tracking and reporting tools offered by the company can help organizations identify and remedy performance gaps at the patient or organization level.

“Our solutions provide a unique blend of world-class content and an innovative technology platform. We produce our own proprietary educational content and work with an expansive team of industry experts to develop engaging material that is designed to improve outcomes,” a MedBridge representative told MobiHealthNews in an email. “Both our professional curriculum and our patient engagement resources are featured on an immersive web and mobile platform that serves to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care. No other online platform fully integrates this multi-product solution to help organizations improve care, enhance outcomes, and drive clinical excellence in various areas of the health system.”

Currently, MedBridge’s platform has been deployed to assist in physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, nursing, and other ares of healthcare, and according to a statement has been used by more than 1,100 organizations across the US. Last month, the company announced a partnership with software as a service and billing services company Casamba that would integrate the two companies’ software offerings for user convenience.

“We believe MedBridge has found a uniquely effective way to combine clinical education and patient engagement into one user-friendly learning platform,” Zack Sigal, VP at LLR Partners, said in a statement.
