This morning patient engagement and care coordination company SCI Solutions announced that it has acquired DatStat, a company that specializes in digital health tools and patient engagement, for an undisclosed sum. Following this acquisition, the company’s combined headquarters will be in Seattle Washington.

“In our consumer-driven health model, provider organizations need to fundamentally reimagine ways to deliver online service and convenience expected by consumers who have grown accustomed to digital engagement throughout their daily lives,” Joel French, CEO of SCI Solutions, said in a statement. “By partnering with DatStat, SCI will eliminate the divide between today’s complex health enterprises and individuals wanting to be personally engaged, understood, and involved in their care. These software tools will foster sustainable growth for providers and improve health and satisfaction for participating patients.”

SCI Solutions’ platform is set up for patient scheduling, referral management, and revenue cycle software. Currently SCI Solutions is used by 1,000 hospitals and imaging centers, and by 13,000 physician practices.

The company plans to combine this with DatStat’s digital self-service offerings, which include a tool for patients to prepare for their doctor’s visit, a secure messaging system, and visit summaries and care plans. The DatStat also sets up a patient access and engagement platform so they can connect to their care teams and manage their health, according to the company.

DatStat’s tools have a consumer interface but can also work in conjunction with health system websites and patient portals, marketing automation technologies, and any electronic health records.

“In partnership with our clients, DatStat has uniquely demonstrated patient self-services adoption levels that result in healthier, better informed and more loyal patients,” DatStat cofounder and CEO Lizza Miller said in a statement. “Linking DatStat’s consumer outreach platform with the national care coordination network of SCI Solutions will bring to market a more meaningful approach for how patients control and manage their health, while enabling providers to use a more modern way to attract and retain patients.”
