Rock Health alum Malay Gandhi joins Evidation Health and more digital health hires

Malay Gandhi, best known as the former CEO of Rock Health, has joined Evidation Health as SVP of Business Operations. Evidation Health cofounder and President Christine Lemke announced the hire in a tweet, saying "This makes me so happy. After years of helping @evidation from the outside, @malayhgandhi joins the team full time. Welcome!"

Gandhi and Lemke also work together as the founding partners at Ensemble Labs, a small VC operation with a healthcare focus. Gandhi previously served as an Executive in Residence for Greylock Partners. According to his LinkedIn, he has left that post to join Evidation.

Dr. T​aha Kass-Hout, former FDA chief health informatics officer, was hired by Amazon this month according to a CNBC scoop. He will join Amazon's Grand Challenge team, the company's "moon shot" group. Kass-Hout will serve in a business development role, which could be related to Amazon's recently-announced healthcare venture with Berkshire-Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase.

Respiratory remote patient monitoring company ResMed has hired its first chief technology officer. Bobby Ghoshal, an internal hire who previously served as chief operating officer at ResMed subsidiary Brightree, will step into the role.

"Bobby has played several key roles in ResMed’s emergence as a world-leading connected health company this past decade, and we’re excited to appoint him as our new CTO,” ResMed CEO Mick Farrell said in a statement. “I have worked with Bobby for many years and he has incredible energy, integrity, intelligence, and an always-learning attitude that will guide ResMed’s emerging competence in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep neural networks, and other data analytics technologies to change the lives of millions more patients.”

UK-based health technology company Drayson Health has hired David Clifton, an associate professor of engineering science at the University of Oxford, to serve as the company's research director. Drayson Technologies is already deeply involved with Oxford, thanks to a five-year strategic research partnership signed last summer. Drayson is working with the University to build out and commercialize digital health tools for the University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. 

"Professor Clifton brings to Drayson Health world-class expertise on the application of machine learning to clinical practice," Drayson Health CEO Lord Paul Drayson said in a statement. "He will be an integral member of the Drayson Health team and a strong link to Oxford, ensuring that the digital innovations born out of Oxford's world-class research in AI get to benefit patients as quickly as possible."

Modern Healthcare reports that Chicago-based health system Ascension plans to hire a chief digital officer, a new C-level position that will be separate from the chief information officer role, by the end of the year. Among other things, the as-yet-unannounced candidate will be responsible for corralling clinical and payment data to improve efficiencies at the system.
