MobiHealthNews’ parent company HIMSS and Forrester Research announced today a new research partnership that will survey health system leadership on digital health adoption and measure its impact on patient experience and physician burnout. These findings will be presented at March’s HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition in Orlando.

“Uncovering emerging strategies for quantifying customer experience across the patient journey will better guide healthcare decision makers who seek data-driven guidance on improving patient experience,” the organizations wrote in a statement. “As a result, the healthcare industry needs more visibility into emerging strategies aimed at measuring and managing provider burnout and patient experience. This research partnership aims to achieve this goal.”

Dexcom’s continuous glucose monitoring devices (CGMs) will be integrated with Eli Lilly and Company’s connected and disposable insulin pens as well as with the company’s pump for a hybrid closed-loop diabetes management system, the companies announced yesterday. The end goal is a personalized insulin delivery and software analysis offering that can reduce the burden for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

"Even with all of the advances in diabetes technology, insulin therapy is still overwhelming and complex," Mike Mason, SVP of connected care and insulins at Lilly Diabetes, said in a statement. "We're excited to include Dexcom's technology in the solutions we deliver to people with diabetes to help improve health outcomes by delivering actionable insights in one connected system. As we integrate our expertise and insights with those from our partners, like Dexcom, we are aiming to not only transform the way we develop and deliver medicine, but to transform how people manage their diabetes.”

Sutter Health and Aetna’s joint venture has partnered with house call startup Heal to provide members with house call appointments. Unveiled today, the arrangement allows members to use Heal’s app, website or phone services to schedule a house call for any day of the week. Heal’s physicians, meanwhile, will be able to write prescriptions or order services as if they were affiliated with Sutter Health | Aetna.

“We are taking steps to modernize the delivery of healthcare by making it easier to access and more affordable,” Steve Wigginton, Sutter Health | Aetna CEO, said in a statement. “Heal’s ‘doctors to your door’ service will increase convenience for members by enabling them to receive primary, preventive, pediatric, and urgent care services from the convenience of their home or office. We want to deliver a differentiated member experience that leads to lower healthcare costs and better outcomes.”

Nordic company SideKickHealth has announced a strategic partnership with Bayer to provide a digital medication management and lifestyle change platform to patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). The company’s deal with Bayer, which will see them initially launch the PAD program in Sweden, follows Sidekick’s inclusion in Bayer’s G4A scheme in 2018.

“Lifestyle change is at the heart of what we do, and our programs can have a multiplier effect on the positive outcomes of medical care and the world’s best medicines,” Tryggvi Thorgeirsson, cofounder and chief executive of Sidekick, said in a statement. “We reinforce medication adherence and use it as a gateway to bring about positive lifestyle change in a much broader sense. We are excited to be working with Bayer to help patients take that first step and beyond.”

In addition to the new partnership, MobiHealthNews understands SideKick has signed a separate multi-million euro deal with another major pharma player, which is expected to be revealed early next year.
