MDLive has brought on Dan Monahan as its new CFO and COO. Monahan, who will provide oversight for the company’s finance, accounting, treasure, tax, revenue cycle management, analytics and operations, comes from a CFO and SVP of operations position at Change Healthcare, and previously led similar financial and operational roles at Sprint, Nortel Networks, SITA, CDC Software and EMS Technologies.

“The MDLIVE team is passionate about improving healthcare for consumers and clinicians while driving material outcomes for our clients,” Rich Berner, CEO of MDLive, said in a statement. “Dan brings that passion and track record of financial and operational excellence. He will play a key role in building on our significant growth in member visits, revenue and consumer and client satisfaction in 2019 to enhance and execute MDLive’s business strategy and company operations.  We warmly welcome him into the MDLive family.”

Paige.AI, a startup working on AI-driven pathology and oncology diagnosis, that last year was the focus of a data sharing controversy, has named a new CEO and board member. Dr. Leo Grady comes from an SVP of engineering position at HeartFlow, where he worked with deep learning technology to improve cardiac disease diagnoses.

“Leo is an accomplished healthcare technology executive who has successfully led the development and commercialization of transformative technologies rooted in medical imaging and machine learning,” Jim Breyer, CEO of Breyer Capital and a Paige.AI investor, said in a statement. “With those strong credentials in both the business and scientific arenas, Leo is highly regarded and ideally positioned to help build on Paige.AI’s uniquely compelling foundation of world-class AI, data at scale, and excellent clinical expertise.”

Spire Health, maker of respiratory monitors that are adhered to clothing, has announced three health-focused appointments.

Dr. Richard Murray, formerly a deputy chief medical officer at Merck & Co., will take on the role of chief medical officer.

“I strongly believe that Spire Health’s respiratory technology and form factor will transform the way that [COPD] and other respiratory conditions are monitored and managed,” Murray said in a statement. “Health Tag is one of the most exciting health technologies I’ve seen that provides new insights into what respiratory patients are actually experiencing.”

Meanwhile, Phil Golz will serve as VP of healthcare sales and strategy, while Joanne Hollenbach steps in as VP of clinical and regulatory affairs. Golz will focus his efforts on the company’s broader commercial strategy as he establishes new healthcare partnerships, while Hollenback will ensure alignment with FDA guidelines while monitoring operations, infrastructure and processes.

Veeneta Lakhani, previously a VP at Anthem, has joined digital health coaching startup Vida Health as its new SVP of health services. In the new role, Lakhani will be heading Vida’s payer, provider and pharmacy benefit manager businesses, and will play a key role in integrating the virtual Vida platform into health system services.

“Our existing health care system has lagged behind in terms of providing access to continuous virtual care that happens outside the hospital and between doctor’s visits, especially for people living with multiple chronic conditions,” Stephanie Tilenius, CEO of Vida Health, said in a statement. “That’s where Veeneta is going to play a key role. Her breadth of experience is going to give us a huge advantage when it comes to working with healthcare partners and driving adoption at scale.”

Digital fitness benefits company Peerfit has brought on Luisa Charbonneau, formerly Florida Blue’s VP of government markets and Coventry Healthcare/Aetna’s VP for Medicare and government programs, as a senior advisor. Of note, the announcement of Charbonneau’s appointment coincides with news that Peerfit will be expanding its services into the Medicare Advantage market.

"I'm looking forward to helping Peerfit gain traction and success in the Medicare market," Charbonneau said in a statement. "I want to help seniors get and stay healthy. Health, wellness and combating loneliness are all things our Medicare members need. They need a sense of community and we want to provide that to help them continue to enjoy life to the fullest with Peerfit Move.”

MassChallenge, a network of zero-equity startup accelerators that often dips its toe into digital health, announced yesterday that its chief operating officer, Siobhan Dullea, has moved into the role of CEO. Dullea has been with MassChallenge since 2016, and her 25-year resume includes C-level stints at The Grommet and C Space.

“Throughout my career, I’ve seen the transformative power a community can have when it comes together to support entrepreneurs,” Dullea said in a statement. “MassChallenge has been a leader in strengthening the global innovation ecosystem by supporting the highest potential startups, and I am honored to take the reins of such a community-driven organization. I am confident that by working together, we can help entrepreneurs reach their full potential.”

Prior CEO and founder John Harthorne will remain on the group’s board.
