Welcome to the weekly edition of Healthcare IT Today Bonus Features. This article will be a weekly roundup of interesting stories, product announcements, new hires, partnerships, research studies, awards, sales, and more. Because there’s so much happening out there in healthcare IT we aren’t able to cover in our full articles, we still want to make sure you’re informed of all the latest news, announcements, and stories happening to help you better do your job.

This edition is a special dispatch from HLTH 2022. There have been a lot of new research reports, new products, and news partnerships announced at the event. We wanted to try and cover as many announcements for the Healthcare IT Today community as we could.

News and Resources

• The inaugural HLTH Europe will take place June 18-20, 2024 in Amsterdam.  We’ll be adding it to our Healthcare IT conferences list.
• Epic users will be able to migrate to Google Cloud, the two companies announced Monday. The news comes nearly three years after Epic said it was no longer pursuing Google Cloud integration and focusing on AWS and Microsoft instead.
• The American Medical Association and Manatt Health released a blueprint for digital health to help health systems achieve optimized digitally enabled care and bridge the digital divide.
• HITRUST released two tools to help organizations address key cybersecurity priorities: A cyber hygiene assessment tool and a guide to implementing third-party risk management systems.

Research Reports

• FINN Partners and Galen Growth concluded that digital health funding in 2022 has focused largely on early-stage companies – but only 1 in 6 companies demonstrate “significant clinical strength.”
• Notable found that 61% of patients avoid going to the doctor because scheduling an appointment was too much of a hassle.
• Outcomes4Me found that more than half of healthcare organizations are non-compliant with HIPAA and don’t honor individuals’ right to access their health records.
• PEP Health showed that patient experience scores are on the rise for hospitals in Texas, with Stars Ratings steadily increasing since 2019.
• Smart Meter reported that 51% of patients with Type 2 diabetes have trouble using Bluetooth-connected glucose monitoring devices.
• TimelyMD reported that 75% of college students with access to virtual care and well-being interventions saw mental health improvement.

Partnerships

• Accolade added FOLX Health to its Trusted Partner Ecosystem.
• Amwell and LG will be making remote monitoring devices that can be used in the hospital or at home. The first jointly developed product, the Carepoint TV Kit, lets care teams monitor and discharge patients from in-room TVs.  Watch for a video demo coming soon to Healthcare IT Today.
• Carenostics has joined the Bayer G4A portfolio; the AI startup focuses on chronic disease treatment.
• BioT Medical and IRegained collaborated to create the the MyHand System for digital physical rehabilitation.
• COTA and Google Cloud will partner to develop algorithms to extract unstructured oncology data from EHRs.
• Ellipsis Health and Tiatro are integrating their respective vocal biomarker technology and behavioral health and social support platform.
• General Catalyst and UC Davis Health are partnering to sponsor AI innovations and to dive the medical center’s ongoing transformational efforts in operations, care, and outcomes.
• Google Cloud announced three Healthcare Data Engine accelerators: Health Equity, patient flow, and value-based care. Provider organizations such as Hackensack Meridian Health, Lifepoint Health, and Mayo Clinic helped with development.
• Google Health and MEDITECH announced two early adopters for their search and summarization collaboration: DCH Health System (Tuscaloosa, AL) and Mile Bluff Medical Center (Mauston, WI).
• Microsoft and Wolters Kluwer are making educational content and services available to applications built on Azure.
• nfant Labs integrated with SimpliFed and bttn to provide lactation and feeding support and to directly connect mothers to medical suplies.
• Nuance and NVIDIA are putting AI-based diagnostic tools in the hands of radiologists; the companies also announced Mass General Brigham as a customer.
• RxSpark and Capital Rx have partnered to increase access to affordable medications at the point of purchase.
• Teva Pharmaceuticals is partnering with Healthsnap and Rimidi to increase patient access to the Digihaler system.
• Twill and e-Psychiatry are working together to increase access to psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists for high-acuity patients.
• Xealth added the Home Health Hybrid Cloud, bringing additional remote monitoring support to its platform.

Product Launches

• Bamboo Health launched two initiatives – the Real-Time Care Intelligence analytics platform and the Smart Signals care coordination network – along with a risk stratification tool called Rising Risk, and a care gap closure tool called Care Gaps.
• Commure released CommureOS, a platform for sharing and reusing data as well as deploying healthcare applications.
• Consensus Cloud Solutions released Consensus Conductor, an integration platform for sharing fax via Direct Messaging or FHIR APIs.
• Healee launched its care flow builder, which lets healthcare organizations created white-labeled digital care pathways.
• Nomi Health launched the Connect fintech platform for real-time payments.
• NuraLogix expanded its Anura health monitoring platform to perform metabolic and blood biomarker health risk assessments.
• Particle Health released specialty search, a Record Locator Service for condition-specific patient records.
• PrimaSum launched its tool for addressing complex sleep disorders; the company is a joint venture between ResMed and Verily.
• QuantalX Neuroscience debuted its brain network visualization technology in the United States.
• Roche announced a new name for its digital health portfolio: navify.
• ShareMy.Health launched a collaborative care platform for behavioral health.
• The Travelers Companies launched Wysa for Return to Work, which supports the mental health of employees recovering from injuries.
• Twilio launched a version of Segment, its Customer Data Platform, for healthcare and life sciences.
• Wolters Kluwer launched two products to accelerate deployment of digital health technologies by virtual care vendors and payers: Digital Health Architect Consumer Education Suite and EmmiGuide.

Sales

• Israel’s Maccabi Healthcare Services will use ApoWiser as its online medication purchasing assistance service.
• Cancer care navigation tool Jasper Health selected Particle Health for clinical data interoperability.
