Centralization and Specialization Allows Financial Stability and Growth

During the COVID-19 shutdown, when many providers lost staff or even closed, Pioneer Physicians Network, Inc. actually grew. This Ohio primary care practiced acquired three practices and added five physicians to its existing sites. In this video, Leanne Knight, Director of Health Informatics, explains how they streamlined their organization to achieve this success.

They created a central office to take the burden of general services such as referrals and document management off of their 18 treat locations, so that the staff at those sites could focus on patient care. The cloud-based eClinicalWorks service made this possible.

Centralization allowed a much more efficient delivery of services through a team-based approach, where one member of the team could fill in for others and help multiple sites.

Pioneer also outsourced billing, allowing the central office to focus on the clinical aspects of the practice.

The practice employed a suite of eClinicalWorks apps called healow, enabling patients to schedule after-hours visits and avoid going to the ER or urgent care.
