314e Transforming from Services to Products

One of the most interesting evolutions in healthcare IT has been the evolution of healthcare IT staffing and consulting companies.  During the boom that was meaningful use and adoption of EHR software, consulting companies played an integral role in almost every large healthcare organization when it came to rolling out EHR software.  Now that we’re past that initial boom, it’s been really interesting to see how these companies have evolved beyond just staffing and consulting.

A great example of this is 314e which started back in 2004 as a healthcare IT staffing company.  Over time they evolved to offer managed services to their healthcare customers.  During that evolution, 314e worked with over 250 healthcare enterprise customers.  What they realized working with these organizations is that many of their customers had similar problems that could be solved in a more productized manner rather than the customized services approach that was common.  By doing so, they could provide a much more cost effective solution to healthcare organizations.

This experience has led 314e to announce the launch of their first three products at the ViVE 2022 conference in Miami where they’ll be demoing each product at their booth (#850).  That’s right.  They’re launching three products, with more that will be released in the future.  Here’s a quick look at their first three product offerings:

Jeeves – This platform is great because it’s like providing At-The-Elbow enterprise application support that never goes away.  The end user receives just-in-time assistance with the application within their workflow.  No need to call a support line and wait on hold.  They receive the help they need directly from Jeeves.  For Epic users, Jeeves is listed on the Epic App Orchard.

Muspell Health Data Platform – This healthcare data platform brings together data from health claims, EMR, ancillary systems, legacy data, SDoH data, and more.  As you’d expect, it has a robust architecture for normalized and structured data with a strong EMPI component.  This allows for querying across all your data as one single source of truth for all workloads.  Plus, it supports health industry standards like FHIR and API and application access to the data.  The future of healthcare is built on the back of data and this platform will help you better leverage this data in your organization.

Muspell Archive – This FHIR-native archival solution includes an archive for clinical data, documents & images, non-EHR data, and supports specialty workflows like Release of Information (ROI).  It uses a libary of legacy connectors and a fast FHIR server to provide single sign-on access from the EHR.  Plus, like Jeeves, this application is available for Epic users on the Epic App Orchard.

If you’re interested in learning more about these products, you can book a demo meeting with 314e at ViVE or stop by their ViVE booth #850 which is next door to ViVE Central.  There’s nothing quite like seeing a product first hand.  Plus, everyone that takes part in a demo gets a chance to win one of several Oculus Quest 2 VR headsets (I have one and they’re awesome!).  Or if you’d rather have a more casual conversation with the 314e leadership team, stop by one of their cocktail hours on Monday or Tuesday from 3:30-5:30 PM.

As I look at the industry, it makes sense why staffing and consulting companies would launch products like 314e is doing.  Their relationships with healthcare organizations give them a deep understanding of the challenges health IT professionals face each day.  It’s great to see 314e listening to their clients and finding gaps they can help solve with useful products.  I’m looking forward to seeing what CIOs think of these products at ViVE and what else 314e is working on next.

Side Note: In case you’re like me and wondering where the name 314e came from, 314e derives its name from two powerful mathematical values – Pi (π), with a value of 3.14, and Euler’s constant, represented by ‘e’. 314e’s company culture shares the same characteristics as π and e – Precision, Never-ending, Connected, and Productive – all needed to offer the highest quality solutions to their customers.
