Pieter De Leenheer joined the executive team of FHIR data platform and health data cloud company 1upHealth as chief executive officer.

Pieter will grow 1upHealth’s engineering team along with the technical capabilities of the platform in order to advance security, scalability and open data access requirements.

Most recently, De Leenheer was chief technology officer at ZenOptics, an analytics and software company. He helped found data intelligence platform Collibra where for 12 years he held the position of chief science officer. In the position, he helped the company raise over $500 million in total funding.

1upHealth plans to launch new capabilities in 2023 via FHIR and cloud-based standards in order to allow its customers to leverage high quality data and improve healthcare. The interoperability company was founded in 2017 and has connected over 10,000 clinical and payer endpoints covering over 280 million patients within the country.


Advocate Health

Advocate Health, the recently formed system merged from Atrium Health and Advocate Aurora Health, has announced its executive leadership team led by the tadem-CEOs: Atrium chief Eugene Woods and Advocate Aurora chief Jim Skogsbergh. The two will lead the country’s fifth-largest health system until Skogsbergh’s retirement in 18 months.

The remaining executive team has been announced this week along with the health system’s board, which will be comprised of equal parts Atrium and Advocate Aurora board members. Other appointments primarily include in-house promotions.

Bobbie Byrne, M.D., has been appointed to the role of chief information officer. Don Calcagno will take the role of chief population health officer. Kinneil Coltman is now chief community and social impact officer.

Anthony DeFurio fills the role of chief financial officer. Brett Denton has represented Atrium Health since 1993 and will continue to do so as chief legal officer. Jim Dunn joined Atrium in 2018 and will now utilize his experience as chief people and culture officer.


Podimetrics

Diabetes care company Podimetrics unveiled the expansion of its executive team and the addition of a new board member. Sid Rao will join the company as chief information officer and Gary Rothenberg will take the role of director of medical affairs.

Roa will bring his 20 years of experience as a technology leader to Podimetrics. Rao has worked with various life sciences and healthcare companies, including AstraZeneca, Baptist Health, Biogen, DentaQuest and Sunovion Pharmaceuticals. He will lead Podimetric’s IT strategy while developing its infrastructure, information security, data engineering and analytics, enterprise applications and software engineering.

Rothenberg is a practicing podiatrist with over 20 years of experience as a clinical assistant professor at University of Michigan. At the university, he is also the director of fellowship training in lower extremity complication prevention.

Sukanya Soderland will take a seat on the board of directors. Soderland is chief strategy officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

 


Hims & Hers Health

Scott Knoer was named Hims & Hers Health’s first ever chief pharmacy and innovation officer.

Previously, Knoer was executive vice president and CEO of the American Pharmacist Association, a 62,000-member organization. He also spent a decade as chief pharmacy officer at the Cleveland Clinic and wielded a $1.4 billion budget.

He will oversee the direct-to-consumer virtual health company’s pharmacy strategy and innovation efforts. Knoer will also direct plans to develop formulations to offer customers personalized health and wellness care.

The company saw strong growth in the third quarter of 2022 with revenue up 95% year over year.


> NewYork-Presbyterian has named Peter Fleischut, M.D., as chief information and transformation officer, succeeding Daniel Barchi, who is now CIO at CommonSpirit Health.

> Butterfly Network, the maker of a handheld ultrasound device, announced president and chief executive officer Todd Fruchterman,M.D., Ph.D., is stepping down.

> Azalea Health, a provider of cloud-based healthcare IT solutions, announced that Brian Kenah has joined the company as its first chief technology officer.

> Kyros, the digital substance abuse recovery platform, added Amy Dellwo as vice president of strategic policy and growth.

> MetroHealth board of trustees member Terry Monnolly has resigned.

> 340B Health senior vice president of communications Richard Sorian has announced that he will retire at the end of this year.

> Abata Therapeutics appointed Ellen Cahir-McFarland, Ph.D., as its chief scientific officer.

> P3 Health Partners, a population health management company, Atul Kavthekar will be joining the company as chief financial officer. Erin Darakjian to return to the position as chief accounting officer after holding down the fort as interim CFO.

> Frier Levitt, a healthcare law firm, unveiled that life sciences attorney Adam Farkas reached the status Certified Pharmacy Benefits Specialist by the Pharmacy Benefit Institute of America.

> Brightside Health, a behavioral telehealth platform, named Jeff Margolis as an independent board member and David Shulkin, M.D., as an adviser.

> Worldwide Clinical Trials welcomed Pete Duprat as senior vice president of commercial, early phase.

> Stride Health welcomed Peter Lee to the board of directors of the healthcare platform company. 

> Verge Genomics, a biotechnology company, announced the appointment of Diego Cadavid, M.D., as its first chief medical officer.

> NXI Therapeutics, a biotech company, hired Ruben Herrendorff as its new chief executive officer.
