Reporting to the Sr. Clinical Director, the Project Director bears primary responsibility for all essential aspects of the project, contract or grant being conducted, including a projects technical or programmatic requirements, compliance with applicable policies and regulations, and management of staff and resources. The Project Director is responsible for ensuring project deliverables are completed on time, within budget and oversees systems and processes to maximize operational efficiencies. They serve as the technical point of contact with the sponsor/client and ensures excellence in customer satisfaction and quality of products/deliverables. Leads a multi-disciplinary team of experts in clinical medicine, epidemiology, statistics, policy, data management and analyses. The Project Director participates and leads the development of new business/funding opportunities. They also serve on the CORE Leadership team and aligns project strategic and operational planning with CORE-wide strategies and business plan.

We seek a candidate who is an analytical person, a strong communicator, and an experienced team and client manager. The candidate ideally has experience with quality measurement and federal policy around use of measurement in value-based programs. CORE also prefers a candidate with interdisciplinary experience in health informatics (HI), who has familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7, DICOM), and an understanding of FHIR API and app design. Familiarity with digital quality measurement, experience with use-cases involving EHR data, and a good understanding of the challenges and limitation of using real-world clinical data in quality measurement are preferred.

The list of accountabilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties that management may deem necessary from time to time. The duties of this position can be conducted remotely if that meets the business needs of CORE. Flexible work schedules and telecommuting are available if needed and/or desired.

Responsibilities

  • Programmatic responsibilities include
    • Serves as Project Director for project, task order, contract, grant or large span of work and ensures all deliverables are high quality, completed on time and within budget
  • Compliance responsibilities include
    • Initiates timely requests for sponsor/client approval for changes in scope of work, re-budgeting, or reduction in committed effort
  • Administrative / Fiscal responsibilities include
    • Develops project proposals in compliance with sponsor guidelines
  • CORE-wide responsibilities include
    • Member of CORE leadership/management team

Education

  • Masters degree required
  • Clinical PhD/MD/DNP preferred

Experience

  • A PhD/MD with 5-10 years experience, or a Masters degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience is required
  • Required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position include
    • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage large teams and produce deliverables on time with excellent client satisfaction
    • Knowledge of health services research methods
    • Demonstrated experience in healthcare quality measurement and evaluation, evaluation sciences and/or implementation science with strong analytic skills
    • Ability to personally participate to a significant degree in the intellectual, technical and management leadership of relevant projects
    • Goal-oriented, well organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a positive and timely manner in a fast-paced environment
    • Capable of selecting, directing, motivating, and developing staff
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrable ability to translate complex findings to non-technical audiences
    • Highly motivated with demonstrated success working as a team member and leading teams in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment
    • Experience attaining revenue targets; and managing multiple, sophisticated tasks simultaneously; and identifying and managing technical, logistical and administrative threats to project completion and budget
    • Ability to communicate effectively to diverse internal and external constituencies, and to collaborate across a wide range of disciplines and organizations
    • A successful record of planning, managing budgets and administering grants and/or contracts.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care quality measurement methods and policy required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of policies pertaining to research studies required
  • Experience managing technical professionals required
  • Working knowledge of computer software to support research project(s) required
  • Well-developed oral and written communication, statistical, organizational, analytical, and interviewing skills required
  • Management, supervisory and training skills required
