CVS Partners With HHS to Provide Health Information

The CVS Health pharmacy chain will carry information about healthcare and preventative services, by the U.S. Department and Human Services (HHS), the company’s MinuteClinic.com and CVS.com websites.

CVS is using technology developed by HHS to support the Act’s efforts to shift the focus healthcare from treatment to prevention.

HHS began developing its Healthfinder.gov website in 1997 to give consumers access to health information, and has expanded it into a source authoritative, easy-to-understand information about prevention and wellness. The site includes myhealthfinder, an interactive tool that asks user to enter their age, sex, and pregnancy status to receive customized wellness and prevention information along with recommendations to improve their health.

HHS has packaged the myhealthfinder tool as an application programming interface (API) that can be integrated into any website at no .

CVS is using the API to integrate myhealthfinder into the company’s websites as a pilot project that will help HHS gather usage information to enhance future versions the tool.

HHS said that any company can use the free API to integrate myhealthfinder into websites, mobile apps and wearable fitness devices. It urged developers to contact the agency about possible collaborations.
