  • ONC renewed its contract for The Sequoia Project to be the Recognized Coordinating Entity for TEFCA implementation. That process will involve working with seven current Qualified Health Information Network candidates, along with any future QHIN applicants.
  • Five in six (83%) of hospital executives are worried about losing business to ambulatory surgery centers, according to survey data from Alexander Group. Two-thirds reported additional market pressure in the form of rising operating budgets.
  • Hospitals and physician practices saw a 9% year-over-year increase in revenue in July, according to the latest monthly report from Syntellis. That said, operating margins were 1.1% in July, a drop from 2% in June but nonetheless the fifth straight month of positive margins.
  • Health insurance consumers are increasingly comfortable with digital tools, the latest Voice of the Member survey from Cognizant said. Since the start of the pandemic, willingness to share digital data has increased 30%, while the importance of price transparency tools has increased 10%.
  • The American Telemedicine Association published Health Data Privacy Principles, paying particular attention to consistency in regulations, definitions of consumer health, consumer consent, and legal enforcement.
  • In a report, the Digital Medicine Society identified three priorities for successful digital health product innovation: Alignment between the FDA and payer decision-makers, alternate pathways to market for novel products, and better coordination among FDA business units.
