We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 10/29 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Julie Maas (@JulieWMaas) from @EMRDirect on the topic “What’s Spooky About Health IT This Halloween?”
Health data is becoming more and more accessible in a transparent way. Payers are enabling APIs, (https://t.co/V4Xg0u5viY), providers have enabled APIs – some are still being rolled out, (https://t.co/G0NX1UmUci), and as technology and consumerism forge ahead, TEFCA is becoming a reality too.
With that we expect to see the industry move toward an even better understanding of who the patient is, where their health data resides, and not to mention, how to see the complete picture of that, and allow even better sharing of this information. Toward that end, a number of moving parts are coming together to make this happen. These are complex topics, so more than ever “Interoperability as a team sport” conversations and collaborations are occurring. These conversations take place at FHIR Connectathons, HL7 Workgroups, and other community-based groups. One important common theme presently is the importance of getting the word out about what is available to help make health data liquidity really work. There are a number of additional initiatives to check out on this topic…
ONC’s FHIR at Scale Taskforce (FAST) Security Tiger Team work, now within HL7, to help securely scale the use of FHIR: https://t.co/YCcbfWeu0t
ONC’s FAST Identity Tiger Team work on identity assurance, patient matching and a strong digital consumer identity that can be used in healthcare settings: https://t.co/rrhpWpy7CG
