Staff Nurse III – Information Technology

Natividad is accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Staff Nurse III in the Information Technology Department. Under supervision, the incumbent maintains clinical nursing and provider modules within the electronic health record (EHR), assists with staff education pertinent to clinical information technology, performs data analysis, and assists with assessment, implementation and evaluation of new technology.

Examples of Duties

  • Serves as the interface between the Information Technology department and the clinical departments
  • Provides technical support to the clinical departments and end users as it relates to Information Technology applications and software
  • Develops and manages dictionaries for clinical components of the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Investigates issues and works through barriers to achieve results by collaborating effectively with clinical users, other departments and members of the Information Technology Team
  • Updates and maintains assessments, orders and documentation screens for the clinical components of the EHR
  • Integrates nursing science, computer science and information science to manage and communicate data, information and knowledge in clinical practice
  • Strives to improve the health of populations, communities, families and individuals by optimizing information management and communication
  • Responsible for all open help tickets related to clinical modules and provides assistance to other IT members with tasks from other modules (if needed)
  • Guides end users through new technology enhancements including assisting with development of training materials
  • Under the direction of the supervisor, develops and implements plans for modifying system changes as needed
  • Proactively identifies potential IT related issues, identifies and implements solutions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required Licensure
    • Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience
    • Twelve months or 2,080 hours of experience as a Registered Nurse

  • Current treatments, drugs, and equipment
  • Advance theoretical concepts, principles, techniques and procedures used in professional nursing and health care
  • Mode of action and effects of medicines and narcotics
  • Advance treatments, drugs and equipment
  • Principles and practices of quality assurance
  • Safety policies of quality assurance
  • Safety policies and procedures related to nursing
  • Trends in clinical information systems management
