Many people don’t realize all the changes that were required by an EHR to be able to more effectively manage everything that was happening with COVID-19. Whether it was new user permissions, new codes, new locations, and much more, many EHR experts spent long hours ensuring their healthcare organization could manage everything that came with COVID-19 patients.
Healthcare IT Today recently sat down with Justin A. Diehl, CHCIO, MBA, PMP, Vice President – Epic Services at CereCore to learn more about what he saw EHR experts do to manage the COVID-19 crisis. Plus, we talk about the lasting impact for good and bad that these changes will have on healthcare organizations. Then, we ask him where EHR software wasn’t ready for COVID-19 and what things EHR vendors need to do to better prepare for future crisis.
Also, coming from an EHR consulting company, we ask him how COVID-19 has impacted the EHR consulting business and how some of the EHR optimization and implementation delays are going to impact healthcare. Then, we ask Diehl to look into what the next couple years will look like for EHR projects within the hospital and the EHR consulting business.
