News and Studies
The majority (51%) of hospitals plan to participate in TEFCA, according to ONC data. Organizations most likely to participate include those who are part of existing national networks such as eHealth Exchange, CommonWell, or Carequality, (65%), those that are in multi-hospital systems (61%), and those that aren’t critical access hospitals (59%). With 48% of organizations unsure if they will participate (and 1% saying they won’t), ONC admitted it has some outreach work to do.
Only 18% of U.S. healthcare organizations that have implemented Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) technology have done it correctly, according to a report from email security vendor EasyDMARC. Most orgs haven’t implemented policies to flag, report and remove outbound phishing emails – all key steps to prevent phishing.
A paper from community care provider Waymark found that federal funding covers less than half the cost of evidence-based interventions typically recommended by social needs screenings. Researchers estimated that it cost $60 per member per month to provide food, housing, transportation, and care coordination assistance, but federal funding only covered $27 of that cost.
A survey from Zocdoc found that men are responsible for only 34% of the platform’s booked appointments, and about 30% of men have someone else book appointments on their behalf. A significant number of men are averse to going to the doctor: One in three said they’d rather clean the house, and one in four said they’d rather change a flat tire.
