When a character with Type 1 diabetes appears in a show set in the 18th century, you know it’s not going to end well. In a recent episode of Outlander , we barely get to meet someone with diabetes before we learn she is going to die. It makes some sense, I guess, since the show involves a woman from the 20th century traveling back to the 18th century, long before insulin therapy was discovered.

You should have been mailed Form 1095-A if you or someone from your household obtained health coverage via the Health Insurance Marketplace in 2015. Upon eligibility, the information within Form 1095-A can be used to receive your premium tax credit.

In 2012, a colleague asked me what hearing screenings I do for my patients, and I realize that hearing loss wasn’t even on my radar. After that, I decided to dig into the research. Hearing loss and diabetes are often connected, and I now believe it’s vital that diabetes educators screen for it.
