Three years ago, St. Luke’s had to take a pause in its Epic journey to make sure everyone was headed in the same direction. The detour, says CIO Marc Chasin, was well worth it. Rolling out Epic across an organization the size of St. Luke’s isn’t a project; it’s a journey that requires an enormous effort to stay on course. It also requires a lot of change, and when that becomes too much, leaders must be willing to hit pause.

With the House vote on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) looming for Thursday and concern of its approval among conservatives in the House, GOP leadership has added a “manager’s amendment” to the AHCA that would make the AHCA even more conservative. The New York Times broke the story today that House Speaker Paul Ryan “rushed” to the White House to explain to President Trump that he lacked the votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In last-minute negotiations between Republican factions over the fate of the American Health Care Act (AHCA), the right for people with diabetes to have health insurance became a bargaining chip. The House of Representatives was supposed to vote Thursday on the AHCA to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, but House Majority Leader Paul Ryan and Trump administration officials knew they lacked the votes for it to pass.
