Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company (MCCPDC) is partnering with diabetes and chronic disease management company Diathrive Health to provide lower-cost prescription medication and diabetes testing supplies to Diathrive's members.

Diathrive Health offers individuals and employers personalized coaching via live messaging and video chat, as well as care plans, articles and videos to help manage diabetes. Users can access unlimited testing supplies at their desired frequency through a monthly subscription.

"As a practicing physician, I saw first-hand the danger of patients not being able to afford medications and supplies," Alex Oshmyansky, CEO of Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, said in a statement.

"I founded the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company to help solve this problem and provide a way for patients to receive their treatments at an affordable price. We already offer transparent, low prices to cash-pay consumers and are excited to now be working with a company like Diathrive Health to further reduce the cost to patients and to keep the patient record complete from both a clinical and financial perspective."

THE LARGER TREND

Over the past five months, MCCPDC has announced numerous partnerships.

In September, the company established its first partnership with a pharmacy benefit manager. Two months later, MCCPDC reported a second PBM partnership with EmsanaRx and, in January, MCCPDC revealed its third PBM partnership with RxPreferred Benefits.

MCCPDC announced its first health plan partnership with Capital Blue Cross in October, noting Capital's members would be able to use their insurance cards at MCCPDC directly as of the start of this year.

It recently began working with digital health companies. Last month, cancer care support company OncoPower signed on to offer prescription drugs at a decreased cost, alongside MCCPDC, via a platform called Medication Savings Suite.

The company also announced a new program on Twitter this month, aiming to create an independent pharmacists' network. Members would be provided a "Team Cuban Benefits Card." Little information is provided publicly on this endeavor, though Dr. Erin Albert, MCCPDC's VP of pharmacy relations and chief privacy officer, said in a podcast the company is beta testing the idea this spring.
