Do Patients Want Their Health Info? – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 6/3 at Noon ET (9 AM PT).  This week’s chat will be hosted by John Lynn (@techguy) from @hcittoday on the topic “Do Patients Want Their Health Info?

Many patients have worked really hard in order to access their health data.  The government has pushed as hard as they can to get patients access to their health data.  In this week’s chat we’ll be discussing whether patients really want access to their health info and how companies can provide even more value to patients who access their health data.

Just so were clear.  This discussion will not include a discussion of IF patients should have access to their health data.  It’s abundantly clear that patients legally, morally, and everything else should have access to their health data.  If you’re blocking patients from accessing their health data, you’re in violation of the law with a few exceptions.  Patients should have access to their data.  That’s not up for debate and won’t be a topic of this conversation.

What’s not clear is whether most patients really want to access their health information.  Sure, they want to know they can access it and want to know their legally allowed to get access to that info, but what then?  In this week’s chat, we’ll dive into that topic and discuss whether patients really want access to their health data and what we can do to make them more interested in accessing it.

Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat where we’ll be discussing the following topics.
