Uninsured Rate Under 12% in First Quarter

The rate among U.S. adults declined to 11.9% in the first quarter 2015, a drop one percentage point from the previous quarter and 5.2 points since before the Act went into effect, according to the Gallup Poll. The percentage Americans was about 14% early in 2008, rose to over 17% in 2011, and peaked at 18% in the third quarter 2013. Court Blocks Missouri Rule on ACA Advisors

The The US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit has barred Missouri from enforcing a law that would have required anyone giving advice about the Affordable Care Act to obtain a license from the state. The court ruled that state licensing provisions regarding the ACA are preempted by the language of the federal law. The Act’s preemption clause prohibits states from taking actions that would “hinder or impede implementation” of the ACA.
