We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 1/7 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Sarah Krüg (@sarahkrug1) and Matt Sakumoto (@MattSakumoto) on the topic “Enhancing Digital Empathy and Reimagining the Telehealth Experience.”
As telehealth is increasingly adopted across all care settings, it is important to understand how clinicians can adapt and respond to the evolving needs of patients. Drawing from the experiences of a virtual primary care physician and a patient advocate, we want to go beyond the telehealth basics, and talk about establishing digital empathy and a remote therapeutic connection.
We collected our thoughts in a Telehealth & Medicine Today (@THMToday) publication Enhancing Digital Empathy and Reimagining the Telehealth Experience. In care centers and health systems across the world, natural experiments have been run on telehealth implementations, and we want to collect and learn effective practices and solutions from you.
Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat where we’ll discuss the following questions and topics.
Topics for this week’s #HITsm Chat:
T1: Describe the best and/or worst telehealth visit you’ve experienced. #HITsm
T2: What are methods to enhance a patient’s *trust* with a provider during a telehealth visit? #HITsm
T3: The way in which we interact and communicate with one another has evolved with the advent of technology. What are the most effective ways for clinicians to practice *digital empathy* and improve webside manner? #HITsm
T4: We already face difficulties developing health literacy. How have you addressed tech and health literacy simultaneously (aka telehealth literacy)? #HITsm
T5: If we were designing new telehealth *experience metrics*, what would you measure from a patient, clinician and/or health system perspective? #HITsm
Bonus: The digital divide is the newest social determinant of health. Beyond improving access, what telehealth solutions have you seen, or would like to see, to bridge health inequities? #HITsm
