With just four days until Affordable Care Act enrolment closes, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reported on Feb. 11 that 275,676 consumers selected plans on the federal health insurance exchange during the 12th week of open enrollment. Total signups since enrollment began Nov. 15, 2014 were 7,749,375.
The most recent report, which covers the Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, also included signup statistics for the 37 states that refer their residents to the HealthCare.gov website and breakouts for plan section by selected Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs). These are detailed below.
More than 520,000 applications were submitted online in the latest week, bringing the total to 12.12 million applications submitted since enrollment opened.
The HealthCare.gov site was visited by more than 3.1 million consumers during the week, for a total 27.5 million since enrollment opened. This compares to nearly 130,000 during the week for the Spanish-language CuidadodeSalude.gov site, and a total more than 1.1 million since enrollment opened.
More than a million consumers contacted the call center during the most recent week. They waited for an average nearly of nearly five minutes on hold. Callers seeking a Spanish-speaking representative waited about 22 seconds.
More than 611,000 visitors used the HealthCare.gov “window shopping” tool during the week to explore coverage options available to them. More than 31,000 window-shopped on CuidadodeSalud.gov.
HHS releases weekly snapshots of preliminary data drawn from the federal exchange, or CuidadodeSalud.gov, and callers to the federal call center at 800-318-2596.
