What Can Be Done to Address the Burden on Non-Clinical Staff?

Physician burnout has been and will be a hot topic in every healthcare organization.  However, are enough organizations also looking at the burden their non-clinical staff are experiencing?  The reality is that if you don’t take of your non-clinical staff that has a trickle down effect that impacts patients and doctors.  This is a really big problem that needs to be addressed.

This was the topic of discussion with Hannah Ellerbee, Principal at Divurgent, who has literally worked on the front lines of healthcare and seen the burden these non-clinical staff face.  In our interview at the CHIME Fall Forum conference, Ellerbee shares some of the things she’s hearing about the burden on non-clinical staff and what that means for an organization.  She also shares what an organization can do to address this burden.

Ellerbee also shares how important it is that we address their burden properly so those staff don’t go other places and leave our organization in a bind because the burden is too hard.  Part of this process is understanding the personas and journey mapping your organization.  When you do this you can discover simple things like where an employee may not be trained properly, how that staff is positioned in your organization is causing issues, or even if they have the right tools they need to be efficient.

Check out the video interview below with Hannah Ellerbee from Divurgent to learn how you can help relieve the burden on your non-clinical staff.
