For the 52nd episode of the CIO podcast hosted by Healthcare IT Today, we are joined by our very special guest, Rob Carey, Former Deputy DOD CIO and Navy CIO, President of Cloudera Government Solutions as we dive this episode’s topic of government vs commercial healthcare and data management! Carey kicks off the episode by describing his move from being a government CIO to his current role as President at Cloudera. Then, he shares the main lessons he learned as a government CIO. Next, we take a look at commercial healthcare to find the areas that it can learn from government healthcare.

With that, we move onto the data management portion of the episode. We start by asking Carey how a CIO should be thinking of the shift from IT infrastructure to data management. Next, he shares the keys to manage data effectively today. Then, we look at the big challenges society is currently facing to see where data can be used as a solution. With how quickly data is evolving, we then take a moment to speculate on what the future of data will look like.
