CIO Podcast – Episode 24: Ed Marx on the COVID Wave and Employee Challenges

For the 24th episode of the CIO podcast hosted by Healthcare IT Today, we sat down with Ed Marx, Chief Digital Officer at Tech Mahindra Health and Life Sciences and Former CIO at Cleveland Clinic and a number of other organizations.  In this episode, Marx shares insights into what he’s hearing from CIOs when it comes to the latest wave of COVID to hit healthcare organizations and what impact it will have on these organizations.  Plus, he shares what the path forward should be and what it may mean for organizations that didn’t learn from the first wave of COVID.

Marx also shares about the upcoming DGTL Voices virtual event focused on Chief Digital Officers that he’s taking part in.  You can still get tickets to the event to learn from a wide variety of Digital Officers from across healthcare.  Marx gives a small preview of his session with Cris Ross called “Consumer Experience Upside Down” and the associated book they’re working on together.

With employment challenges and burnout at an all time high, Marx shares a wide variety of simple lessons CIOs can use to help improve employee morale and retention.  Plus, the ideas he shares don’t really require money to execute.  Finally, Marx shares a lesson from his hiking experiences that can help CIOs as they lead their organizations.
