Having been part of the world of healthcare IT for 15 years now, it’s great to be able to look back at the history of how health IT and what’s now being called virtual care has evolved. When I started, virtually no healthcare organizations had an EHR. Now, everyone does. The iphone didn’t exist and so mobile healthcare was still in the future. A lot has changed for the better and sometimes it’s hard to realize this when you look at all that still needs to be done.
What’s also fun about covering the industry so long is that I’ve gotten to see products mature over a long period of time. One company I met almost a decade ago is Force Therapeutics and their CEO and Founder, Bronwyn Spira. When I first met her she was basically offering patient education tools for PTs and what could be described as early digital therapeutics. In the decade since, they’ve built on that foundation to really provide a full care coordination platform across a wide variety of clinicians and ways to provide virtual care to patients.
Given everything that’s been going on with COVID-19, I wanted to catch up with Bronwyn Spira to understand how far they’ve come when it comes to providing coordinated virtual care and digital therapeutics. Plus, I wanted her to share how COVID-19 has impacted the market and her experience getting clinicians to adopt a digital solution like Force Therapeutics.
