Fall is upon us and that means the crazy fall conference season. At least it does for me and the team at Healthcare Scene. There’s always so much going on. Luckily, that means great content for you the reader.
As it’s Friday, I’m excited to share another Fun Friday post to hopefully over some levity and lessons as you head into the weekend.
First up is this great health data security cartoon:

I’m not sure if this is good for our children to be asking this question, but the world is definitely changing when it comes to health data privacy.
The next cartoon on health standards comes from a discussion Dan Munro was having about FHIR and the need for an MPI (Master Patient Index) solution or not. It’s a great discussion if you’re a health IT nerd, but the cartoon he shares is spot on when it comes to healthcare standard development. Note: You’ll need to click on the tweet and then the cartoon to see it.
Part of that coverage includes #FHIR and the specific limitation of #FHIR relative 2 a Master Patient Index (MPI). @GrahameGrieve agreed w/ that specific limitation (see quote).
The risk of vendor-driven "standards" is pretty well captured by the now famous xkcd cartoon.
