The Great Resignation – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 2/11 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by John Lynn (@techguy) from @hcittoday on the topic “The Great Resignation.”

No industry seems to be immune to the loss of employers in what many are calling the great resignation and healthcare is no different.  Speaking broadly, many are looking for more flexibility in their work and where they work.  When an employer doesn’t provide that, there are a lot of jobs out there that will and employees have more options than they had previously.  Flexible employers can hire from anywhere and so employees are no longer “stuck” in a job because of where they want to live.  The same is true for things like working from home which makes some logistics easier for people.

Healthcare is experiencing all of this and more.  Not the least of which is overwhelmed healthcare organizations that make work life a challenge.  Burnout was a problem before COVID and the pandemic has only made things worse at most organizations.  On our healthcare CIO podcast, a CIO said that retaining staff and creating the right culture so they want to stay was the #1 job he had right now.

I hope you’ll join us as we talk about what’s happening and look at possible efforts to minimize the damage.  Plus, we’ll talk about the role technology can play in addressing these challenges.

Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat where we’ll be discussing the following topics.
