What’s Something Not Enough People are Talking About in Healthcare?

The world of healthcare is already so huge and yet it keeps expanding. Every day we see new faces trying to make a name for themselves with new ideas or new takes on old ideas. Technology continues to advance, allowing us to finally accomplish things we had previously only dreamed of. And we continue to grow and learn and fight to be more inclusive in our practices. But with so much out there to work on and talk about, it’s easy for some topics to get lost in the weeds.

In order to help remedy this, we gathered a bunch of the most amazing health IT experts to get their insights on what isn’t being talked about enough in healthcare. We compiled all their answers together in this YouTube video down below. Check it out and see if it matches up to what you think isn’t being talked about enough.

Here’s a quick summary of what everyone had to say in the video:

George Valentine, Assistant Vice President of Growth and Development at Cox Communications – In regards to AI, could this be the rare instance that healthcare leads on the adoption of a technology compared to other industries?

Carolyn Bradfield, CEO at Interact Lifeline – We aren’t focusing enough on the biggest health crisis – overdose deaths from fentanyl.

Chris Johnson, Co-CEO at TeleTracking – The need for visibility across our healthcare operations and the infrastructure of US healthcare wasn’t just a tool for the pandemic, we need to keep it alive for all upcoming pandemics and disasters.

Sanjeev Shetty, SVP Healthcare at DBSync – How are AI and ChatGPT going to impact the human experience in healthcare?

Mark Grossman, VP of Growth Strategy and Market Partners at Gomo Health – A lot of talking, but not enough doing. How do we get all of the great technology we keep talking about into the hands of the patients for it to start making an impact?

Andrew Meadow, Founding Partner at Health Innovation Capital – Innovation targeting the unmet medical needs of patients from neonatology all the way through to young adults under the age of 21.

Dan Wilson, Founder and CEO at Moxe Health – We’ve been talking about interoperability as a concept for decades and I want to hear what people are doing to solve real problems. What are people actually doing with all of this data interoperability? What problem are they actually solving and who are they solving it for? Why should any of us take notice?

John Nebergall, Chief Operating Officer at Consensus Cloud Solutions – There hasn’t been a lot of talk about the sustainable business model around TEFCA and the QHINs.

Linda Mayhue, Director of Clinical Care Management at Xandar Kardian – Are we making sure the technology actually meets the needs of the staff? Are we providing a great solution with the technology?

Regina Gray, COO at Karlsgate – How do you scale data collaboration to successfully connect data to get patient-centric outcomes?

Dan Olson, SVP of Provider Solutions at Amwell – We need to understand that more and more, healthcare is a hybrid environment of in-person care and virtual care.

Doug Duskin, CEO at Avel eCare – Not enough people are looking at how to use technology early in an acute encounter to change that outcome overall positively for our patients.

Caitlin Long, Director of Product Management at Bandwidth – The importance of patient communication. A majority of patients said they would switch providers if there was poor communication with their current provider.

Doug McDonald, Director of Technology and Office of the CTO at Extreme Networks – How important the network is to facilitate all of these great technologies we keep talking about.

Chad Peterson, Managing Director at NetSPI – Not so much talking about it but remembering what’s old is new again. Things are changing so rapidly in healthcare that you want to go through and constantly look at your environment, new attack services, and new vulnerabilities.

Sandy Saggar, CEO at Connexall – The acceleration of clinician burnout and staff turnover coming out of COVID.

Jonathan Wiik, VP of Healthcare Insights at FinThrive – It’s like a truck backed up and dumped all this data into our laps. What are we doing with that data to sort it and make sure it goes to the right person at the right time in the right place to deliver better care and payment outcomes?

Harsh Nayyar, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at PocketHealth – We’re not really talking about interoperability with the patient, who is arguably the most important stakeholder in healthcare.

Huge thank you to everyone who took the time out of their day to come speak with us to make this video possible! And thank you to all of you for taking the time out of your day to read this and watch the video!! We wouldn’t be here without your support and we would love to hear from you as well.
