Evolution of Stel Life’s Connected Health Hub

I always love watching the evolution of connected health.  In the early days, many of the wearable devices weren’t connected to much of anything.  Now, connecting those devices to the cloud is key and essential to all of the remote patient monitoring companies out there.

While we’d love for all these devices to just natively connect to the cloud through a cellular signal (and some do this), this type of direct cellular connectivity comes at a cost that doesn’t work for many situations.  In its place, there’s a number of healthcare hubs that have been created where a variety of connected devices (ie. blood pressure cuffs, smart scales, etc) can be connected to the health hub which then transfers all the data to the cloud.

At the HIMSS conference earlier this year, I talked with one of the makers of these connected health hubs, Sid Kandan, CEO at Stel Life Inc.  What was great was that he had his first generation connected health hub and his 2nd generation device. You could literally see the evolution of the product first hand.

Along with showing how the product’s form factor has evolved, he also describes how his connected health hub works.  We also dive into whether the connected health hub is the future and why connecting directly through a cellular signal is going to be a challenge from a cost and security perspective.  Plus, we talk about how hard it is to use a hub like this and what makes their product unique.
