How Are You Looking to Incorporate AI and Technology like ChatGPT Into Healthcare?

AI and technology like ChatGPT are only becoming more and more present in our conversations for the future of healthcare. In many ways, these conversations are optimistic, thinking of all the ways that AI can change the world. But there are still plenty of fear in these tools, as it’s hard not to worry about being replaced by a robot. This is what we are talking about today, AI and technology like ChatGPT and their presence in healthcare.  What does that really look like?

The theme seems to be not to replace, but to aid. There are so many tasks that are unnecessarily tedious and time consuming. Alone, that is a problem for your staff. But with the huge staffing crisis and staff burnout that is happening, it can be lethal. So AI and ChatGPT aren’t a replacement, but merely a tool in order to cut down on the massive amounts of work your staff has to do.

An example of this comes from Brad Porter, Global CEO at Orion Health. “We’re looking at how to make sure the healthcare systems, which sit on this enormous amount of information, whether it’s structured data, unstructured data from clinician notes, and actually get meaning from it.” said Porter. “These large language models, such as ChatGPT, really provide an ability for health systems to get absolute value by mining the data in a conversation manner. It’s going to be really exciting!”

The video below is a compilation of some of the brightest experts in health IT sharing how they are working to incorporate AI and technology like ChatGPT in their organizations.

Here’s a quick summary of some of the ideas they share:

Dr. Yan Chow, Global Healthcare Lead at Automation Anywhere – Let the Healthcare Centers Drive it!

John Nebergall, Chief Operating Officer at Consensus Cloud Solutions – NLP (Natural Language Processing) takes unstructured data like a fax and turns it into structured data so it can be used in a seamless and automatic way.

Dr. Kent Locklear, CMO at Lightbeam Health Solutions – Using Prescriptive AI for things like assessing social determinants and predicting high expense utilization

Chris Larkin, Chief Technology Officer at Concord Technologies – Being able to read a document like a PDF to identify specific keywords to be able to improve the workflow process

Kanav Hasija, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Innovaccer – This is an evolution of predictive analytics from numbers to text.  We are predicting readmissions and hospitalizations.  We use generative AI in our point of care tools to help reduce the documentation burden on doctors.

Brad Porter, Global CEO at Orion Health – Large language models like ChatGPT help health systems to mine all the data to make sure they’re getting maximum value from their data.
