Here’s a description of the position:

New York City based health services organization has an immediate opening for a Clinical Informatics Director to support our ambulatory care facilities.

In collaboration with stakeholders, the Clinical Informatics Director will be responsible for the strategic direction of clinical applications in order to enhance the patient and provider experience and increase efficiency and improved patient outcomes as well as ensure the delivery of safe, effective, value-based and evidence-based care.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and integration of clinically-related information systems (e.g. Medical EHR, Dental EMR)
  • Identifying areas of technology and information systems improvement to enhance clinical operations
  • Manage/implement technology solutions projects for improving clinical operations
  • Analyze the use of technology and information systems to determine its effect on patient care
  • Assist business and clinical executives to make decisions based on data and analytics
  • Serve as a liaison between the Medical and Information Technology Departments
  • Evaluate efficient use of EHR/EMR and other relevant clinical applications
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical IT and technology projects
  • Manage business process re-engineering and clinical workflow re-engineering steps when new technology is introduced to clinical workflows
  • Lead Clinical Informatics and Technology committee and decision making on Clinical IT project priorities
  • Collaborate with senior leadership (CMO/CIO) to create a strategic roadmap and plan for Clinical Informatics which may include:
    • Innovation and Interoperability roadmap (Strategic Plan)
    • Population Health Initiatives
    • Evaluating new solutions to be added to the clinical applications suite
  • Provide input to the clinical operations team members for enhanced consumer engagement opportunities

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Computer Science or Information Systems with relevant experience in Health Informatics, Healthcare sector preferred
  • Master’s degree or Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics, BioMedical Informatics or related discipline (CIS, MIS, IS, CS) or relevant work experience
  • Exceptional abilities and skillsets in problem solving, troubleshooting, critical thinking, and analytics
  • Extensive Project Management (PMP) and Change Management experience
  • Expert knowledge of Health Informatics and Analytics
  • Expertise in Ambulatory Care clinical workflows
  • EHR Design and implementation in an ambulatory care provider setting
  • Expertise of Cerner Millennium or Dentrix is a plus
  • Experience with clinical workflow diagraming and process re-engineering
  • Familiar with HIPAA Data privacy and security rules
  • Knowledge of CMS and ONC rule is a plus
  • Experience with interoperability standards, like FHIR, HL7 Experience with data modeling, mapping to standard medical terminologies and classifications (SNOMED CT, ICD-10-CM, LOINC, RxNorm)
  • Experience with data querying and extraction, building reports and analytics, and managing data sets is a plus
  • Understanding of the organizational data flow and its use in management decision-making
  • 7+ years relevant experience in Health/Clinical Informatics and Healthcare industry
  • 3+ years of managerial experience
